I read in another topic that transferring all of your music to a high capacity flash drive, and just keeping that in the car is a nice so you don't always have to have an iPod handy. Question, do I have to organize all of the music files into folders by artist or by album, or can I just perform a simple drag and drop of 20GB of music or so onto the flash drive, and the audio system will organize it for me?

Second question, when I connect my iPod touch, I believe the folders that come up on the display are playlists, artists, albums, and songs...but no folder for podcasts...any thoughts?

Thanks!

If you drag 20GB of loose songs onto the USB and plug it into your car then no you'll have to scroll through all of them individually. If your 20 gigs are in different folders, then when you plug it in it will be divided into folders. I don't believe you can search through the USB by Artist, album, playlist like in the ipod. I started using an 8GB USB more because it tells me the track time and I use my ipod when I'm walking around lol. But I have to organize it into different folders beforehand.

Are you referring to audio podcasts or video podcasts? If you have the nav model the screen does not allow you to view videos, unless of course you mod it. I don't have any audio podcasts but I don't see why they wouldn't play.

Worst case scenario if it doesn't play podcasts, you can connect it to the aux cable and play it through there. Ima give it a try after class to see...

Hey Vicm, I live all the way at the end of Castle Hill Ave by that old YMCA. I'm not sure what this part is called lol. What part did you live in?

As far as the zune goes, I don't own one but I don't see why it shouldn't play it. Is it one of the older models or one of the newer hd models. I just looked on the Honda website and it says
"[1] The USB Audio Interface is used for direct connection to and control of some current digital audio players and other USB devices that contain MP3, WMA or AAC music files. Some USB devices with security software and digital rights-protected files may not work. Please see your Honda dealer for details."

According to that it shouldn't be just iPods. Maybe its the specific model you have. Maybe they put a list in the manual ill have to check it out.

pgarci01, Thanks for the info, I'll check with the dealership. They have a knowledgeable tech guy. Love this CT, drives like a dream.
I am originally from what they call the Belmont area. Years later, the Norwood area.

Podcasts do not show up on the ipod menu.

The two ways around this are:

1) Navigate to the podcast you want to listen to and hit play, *then* plug in the ipod. The car stereo will pick up where you left off.

or

2) You can still navigate to the "Artist" of the podcast or the title of it under "Album".

Lol is that by Bainbridge or further up the Moshulu? Sounds so familiar...

Yea I love this car its a real head turner. If you look in the appearance section, I'm suggesting everyone buys Wet Paint Glaze to keep their CTs looking nice. It's easy and you can't beat those results in less than an hours work.

I tried calling the dealership to see if the CT played Zunes through the usb and they said they had to get to me on that lol...

How can you mod the navi screen to play the videos ive tried searching but havent found anything
I'm not sure that you can (easily).

I don't believe the USB connector in the Crosstour is set up to receive the video out signal from the iPod.

Best case scenario it could be a function added later through a firmware upgrade, worst case the system doesn't have a necessary components to display video from the USB connector.

However, I'm sure it's within the realm of possibility (considering the display is capable of displaying video from the back-up camera). But it would take some pretty heavy modifications.

For all Ipod users, USA Spec http://www.usaspec.com/ makes an IPOD interface that allows you to use the steering wheel controls to change songs, raise or lower volume, change IPOD playlists and it is easy to install. The part# for the CT amd all Hondas with SR and Nav is PA15-HON2. I have this unit in my CT and Pilot, works great

Hi, I'm a new member (just signed up today). I just bought a 2012 EX-L Nav and am wondering if the USB port will charge my ipod? The last two mornings, I get out to my car, start it up, get the defrost going while I scrape the windshield. During this, my ipod is playing through the system. I get down the road a bit, stop at QuikTrip for a coffee. When I start the car back up, the ipod is not connecting to the system anymore. It just shows "OK to Disconnect" on its screen. From here it is a total PITA to get it to do anything. I end up having to do a forced reboot.

This is a new issue to me. In my old vehicle, I used one of those FM broadcasters that would charge the Ipod and broadcast it over a FM signal to play over my stereo. Yes, I know that leaving it on charge for years on end probably killed my battery in the Ipod (80gb Classic).
What I'm wondering is if the USB Port in the Crosstour charges while it is hooked up. This may be why its shutting down and making me force a reboot?

I know the USB charges my iPhone I have been having real issues with the connection cable. as soon as it the cable warms up it sends an unsupported message up on the dash. this a cable issue.
On the other hand a batteries with lots of cycles make devices run poorly, it's amazing what a new battery will do for an ipod.
I hope this helps a little.

I didn't think about looking into a new battery for my Ipod.

With thinking about the situation, I came to the conclusion that the USB port charges the device while the car is running (key in the On position), not while the car is off. So, with my old ass Ipod, Ill have to manually turn the ipod off when the power in the vehicle is off.

This makes me think that you have a battery issue, as soon as the iPod realizes it's not transmitting data to the radio it should go into standby. Battery changes are easy to do on old iPod's as long as they are not soldered in. Go to https://www.ifixit.com/ and choose your iPod and battery replacement and see if it looks like something your able to handle. Amazon is usually were I get replacement parts just make sure they have good reviews.
With a quick search and not knowing exactly what iPod you have it might be under $10
