I have a 2012 CT-EXL that I bought in the fall of 2021 (Midnight Blue, Black interior, 107,000 miles). I want to install a trailer hitch on it and I am doing initial research on either doing it myself or getting it done somewhere that installs them. According to the CT shop manual and posts on this forum, a connector for the trailer lights in a 2012 model is located behind the body panel in the rear cargo area on the left (drivers) side. I removed the storage bin on that side, looked up behind the panel and took a picture of what I think is that connector. I am including that picture to get confirmation from someone who has done this before. I did not cut the protective tape off of it yet, till I can take the body panel off to get to it better.
Thanks

Thank you very much. This information will be very helpful. One question though, where can I get the harness/connector part that connects to the trailer?
Either through your dealer or an online Honda parts distributor
I use HondaPartsNow all the time, here's a link to the harness from them, should come with instructions and everything seeing as its listed under accessories

This is all I saw on mine, but I don't think this is it. Be careful about those two clips on the storage bin, one of mine was strong and cracked the bin. Idiot on the Facebook group told me apply gentle pressure but didn't tell me I needed to use pliers on the two Clips.

I bought my EcoHitch from eTrailer and got the four pin intermediate harness that hooks up to the Honda connector behind the right rear panel in the cargo area which is what I believe you are properly looking at in your photo.

I was surprised at how quickly the installation of the hitch and harness went.

This is what the 13-15 manual has to say about the trailer harness, definitely a little different

And the Hitch harness for 13-15 has a different part number

Thanks for the pictures. I do have a question. In the attached screen shot from the hondapartsnow.com web page it shows what looks like a 2 part harness. Do I need that big harness with all the connections hanging off of it, or just that little one that goes to the trailer connection?

Not sure. Bought my set up from a trailer service dealer. It’s just a four wire standard harness
