Traction control switch

There is a switch to the left of the steering wheel that I think turns off the Traction control. does anyone know why you would ever turn this off? this is on a AWD and I don,t know if they have it on a 2Wd.

Traction Control Honda Version called VSA, pages 58,311,and 312 in the OM. My 2008 Honda Accord had VSA and it saved my butt a couple times.
