I had a viper 5901 full alarm on my old accord with remote start and two way pager. I had to get a bypass kit but it worked well. It had a really nice auto up feature so that you could shut the engine off, get out of the car, and the windows would roll up automatically when you hit the arm button.

It was nice, but I don't think I'll do it again. Just too much money and effort to get installed, there is a LOT of wiring. I'm decent with engine wiring but when it comes to dash, there's way too much stuff I'd be afraid to mess up without help. You really need someone who knows their stuff to install it right and get all of the functionality that the nicer alarm systems have to offer.

Your best bet is to go with a reputable shop that installs a lot of them, that way they are most likely familiar with your particular car. Sadly, I would stay away from the Honda Remote Starter since it actually shuts the car OFF when you unlock the doors to get in - something about a safety feature but it seems ridiculous to me.

I got a viper 5901 installed in my CT and its awesome! I actually posted a review on it its somewhere on this forum. Still no problems and its been very very cold here in NYC. One of my fears was the complaints about cold weather but it has not failed on me yet and shows no signs of it. One of the benefits of going to an authorized viper installer. Cost me 500 bucks with installation but better than the Honda remote starter.

I also have the 5901. Generally, I am happy about it. I do have a couple of gripes. I'm not sure if it is because of Viper or the installation.

When I first had it installed, I would remote start the car, but then it wouldn't unlock my doors. I had to stop the engine remotely and then it would lock the doors. The installers (which are "viper authorized") decided to replace a module. One that is not viper. They said they have been having problems with the new viper module with hondas. Now it works fine, but I lost some of the functionality of the old module. For instance, when I unlock my car with my OEM fob, my Viper fob would indicate that the doors are open. Now, it doesn't communicate at all.

Once in a while, I would hit my remote start button, and my fob would say out of range. Then I'd hit it again, and it says "remote start off". Which means it worked in the first place, but didn't communicate correctly. It bothers me that I'm starting and restarting a car in the cold. I don't like to have my car in idle in the cold longer than 5 minutes.

That doesn't sound right to me. I had an 03 accord and I could remote start and unlock the doors, the engine would keep running. Sounds like an install problem to me.

As for the range, mine did that occasionally but it was mostly with locking/unlocking. It sends a signal out but sometimes doesn't get the signal back that the module did what it requested.

Yea mines doesn't do that. In fact if I unlock using the factory key fob before disarming the viper the alarm goes off. I also get an indication that the doors are open. It might be the installation.

The range is insane depending on the number of buildings between you in the car. I went to Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall and parked very very far away (about 10 min to the car) and the car got the signal immediately. But if I'm in the city I would have to be closer like 5 min away for it to get the signal. Still more impressive than 200 foot range (more like 5 foot) on the Honda one lol...

I love the pit stop feature too...

want to change

Well love my CT black on black but no sat nav. D*mb me got the remote starter but now want the compustar or viper alarm, my beef is should I get rid off the remote starter or can it all be installed with the current wiring. If not does any body want it for a small fee I know I'll lose out on $ but I prefer the alarm.
