New CV Axles--no nut?

258 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Mash1020
I just purchased driver and passenger OEM cv axles. They did not come with nuts. I could swear in the past when ive purchased cv's that they came with a new nut. Can anyone speak to reusing as i thought that was a no-no?

Not sure if just the axles come with the nut but I do know that the boot set kit does. That comes with a new boot, grease, axle nut, and circlip for the joint. Its helpful if you tear the boot upon removal.

Weird because i bought the entire assembly for both sides, no grease or nuts in either box.

I would buy a new nut before installing the overhauled shafts. See pics below. The maintenance manual calls out to replace the nut on installation of a new shaft. The reason is the nut is staked into the notch of the threaded spinal and sometimes you damage on the removal And if it also looses its self locking feature . I bet your local dealer of online parts websites have them for sure. I bought mine from advance auto and they came with new nuts.
good luck
