I took possession of my CT September-23rd. Since then, I was exploring all functions and buttons (a lot) with that car. I noticed that my Navigation system is running with version 4.81. When I check on Honda's website, the version available is 4.92. That means there were updates which is normal. The built of my car is 05/10 and this explains probably why I'm getting old version.

I'm planning to visit my dealer requesting the new update. If I order this thru the web its expensive $249 + taxes, etc.

Did you run with this issue? Did you get satisfaction from the dealer?

I saw what one of thoses updates cost and I was

So I think I will live with what I have for now

I just checked on Owners Link, they had a price of $184.00 no shipping or tax. Are you in Canada?
Yes I am. I just get back from the dealer and they said that I need to order it from the web. I think the pricing of $249 is definitely too high. I'll keep the current version. In fact, I was under the impression that if you buy the car today and the current version showed on the web is more recent I was expecting at least to get the current version not the one that was put in the car when it was built. (05/10).

Anyway, what can I say? I just tried...

I think you'll find that it's very unlikely that the current version is much/any different.
From my experience with these things (I've had at least half dozen in Infinitis, Lexi, and Acuras) that a current version is very little different and it's unlikely that you'll come across any changes.
You know best how good your version is and how it coincides with your 'hood, but as I said, from my experience , it's just not that diff therefore not cost effective. (at least not for a few years)

You might remember next purchase to include the latest version in the purchase agreement.

Enjoy your new ride.

I would check with dealer as you say and find when 4.92 came out and if earlier than your purchase I would expect them to update for no cost, otherwise don’t waste your money and stick with what you have, for not enough changes to see any difference...I have a lifetime with Garmin and I have never seen any difference with updates to speak of…I still got lost.
Glad to see ya here in the forum and congrats on your new CT! There is some good information here on questions and difficulties you might want to watch for and are answered well by these folks! Couple of 'bungs' here but that’s expected. (I don't mind typing 124 words for a fellow member…inside comment/joke lardo)

I'm not sure when the new version was available but I guess I missed it by a day or few days. Anyway, as you stated, I won't expect too much difference with my current version. So far, I'm really excited with this new car. My previous car was an Accord sedan 2003 EX-L 4 cyl. I got only 600km on my new CT. I'm retired since a year and a half and I bought this as a good start with my new life...

if there is a lot of construction/new home/new road you still have to give it a year before they can add to the data base. If no new construction in your area no need to update unless you are really want to just my option.

It's been my experience that such changes can take years to appear on newer versions:
After personally giving my feedback to Zenrin (the company that handles these changes) at least for Infiniti OEM navigations, about 2 mistakes on the versions that I had : one was the name of my street HARWOOD RD. the other was my brother's street: CALVIN - it took until recently to actually make those changes to their database to correct HARDWOOD to HARWOOD, and CALVAN to CALVIN!

I was amazed and a little disappointed that it took so long. None the less, that was in 2001 and thereafter, and now in the latest databases that I've seen do the proper names appear.
Go figure. It seems to be a very very slow process.:rolleyes:

I know they probably work on a priority bases and that's understandable but gosh, does it take that long to verify a name? It shouldn't.

So I'm very skeptical on so called "updates" and "latest versions". No doubt these versions have some changes, but not much that's useful to most.:p, and at those prices, you really want to get your money's worth.

Here in America if you call the Honda Navigation Center @ 1-866-628-4485 before July 4th you can get a update for 149.00. Maybe it will work in Canada? Don't know.

It's *very* easy.

In the rear cargo area, under the right side reversible cover, is the DVD drive which holds the navigation DVD.

You can just eject it and see what version number is printed on the cover.
Went to check what version I have, I moved the reversible cover, seen the DVD drive, pushed open, nothing came out. Well it was night time, didn't see an eject button. I will try in the day. Lol...

I just recently moved to Houston... This city is too big to be nubie in w/o an updated navi. What hurts is a typical brand new Garmin you find at a Best Buy costs just as much as a navi update.

*sigh*
