I just filled up the tank this morning and got 21.5 mpg mixed city/hwy. I currently have ~1900 miles on the odometer.

Our overall average is steady at 29, and my wife mainly does "city" driving. When I take it on road trips, I see about 31-34mpg depending on the terrain. 34mpg when it's all flat, 31 when there are a ton of hills and things like that.

Are you doing real math for those numbers? Asking because my mileage readout on the Navi is about 1-2 mpg higher than the real paper and pencil math.

Wow...never had that mpg performance in my CT! Even with the overstated nav. trip computer. Based on mfr. stats and personal use, it seems impossible to get 29 mpg with city driving???

You must've gotten one of those prototype hybrid CT's to get that kind of mileage! C'mon, who do you know? :D

Seriously, I get in the mid-to-high teens in pure city driving and mid-20's on the highway, which is very close to EPA. I only have about 1000 miles on the car, so maybe it's still breaking in. I hope the mileage improves, but if it doesn't, I'll still love it!

Hi Leek69,
you are give the right answer, it's true SOME ppl are exaggerating, we all know that is just impossible to get 30MPG, and sincerely I do not see the reason ...

Mix driving with 3K miles on board, around 21-22MPG...

Hi finally

I get the same 25 to 29 (using the Cruz control ) This is my first posting , I started watching the CT several months before it went on sale and bought a polished metal one in august , I have never been so happy with a vehicle , I am looking forward to a tour from Maine to Texas next month , I have been asked several times by strangers how I like the CT and the smile on my face says it all how to add to the forum .

I just drove about 6k miles this month (New England to AZ and back).

On the way back the car was completely loaded down with personal belongings (no room except for front seats) and we used the Cruise Control any time we could.

The display showed a 29mpg reading.

As stated earlier, I find that pen and paper tends to be about 1.5 mpg worse then the display, but, even at 27.5mpg I'm still mighty pleased.

I do mine with the real math method, topping off every tank and tracking the milege with the odometer. I have no clue how I manage to get such nice numbers, but I've noticed with a few other vehicles that the further south, also closer to sea level, the better the mileage.

BTW, my wife's city driving mileage is about 5 miles each way, I've also taught her a few things about coasting and proper acceleration. If you read up on some of the stuff that the ultra-milers do, some, not all, but some work very well in practical applications.

I agree, using ultra miler techniques can certainly help. When I lived in Florida I used to cut west at West Palm Beach and go up US 27 to Orlando, there was a 40 mile stretch with no traffic and no lights. I had a Lexus RX330 giving me 30mpg by just playing for the 40 miles. It never really got over 23 otherwise.

I filled up with the CT and after I pulled out and got to 40 I hit the reset button on the mileage. Drove about 5 miles, made every light, grunted up a few hills and coasted down a few more. Had the CT mileage display over 40. Wish I had a camera with me, thought everyone would get a great laugh out of it.

A question: mpg display is only avail on those CT's with the navi system correct? I do not have the navi system and thought maybe I missed something in the owner's manual that would display that.

I have a 2WD EX-L and my mileage figures are very like Ryan's; right at 30MPG for combined city/hwy driving. I do the calculation by hand and I do practice some conservation techniques, but nothing heroic; I just avoid drastic acceleration when possible. Other than that, I drive the speed limit.

I just returned from a 1700 mile trip to see the parents. Ct was loaded with about 700 lbs of people and gear. Averaged 26.2 mpg at 75-80 mph. Normal driving around town 60/40 frwy/city and I am lucky to get 22 mpg. I do have a bit of a heavy foot, but can't complain too much.

I have the 4wd, and my in town avg is right about 19/21 mpg. I have not taken it on a long enough road trip to determine Interstate Mileage, but if it get's anywhere near 25-27+ mpg, I'll be happy.

Hi from the Great White North. City driving in winter now with an average temp of about 5F, I'm getting about 15 miles per US gallon. Not great. Before winter hit I was getting about 19. I took a long road trip back in early fall where I managed 29 mpg cruising quietly and comfortably at 75 mph.

I am getting about 480 KM's per Tank! That's not very good..My 2006 Pontiac Torrent actually got better mileage. I find that if I put in Mid-Grade Fuel 89 I get better mileage and pick up obviously. It might actually be worth the extra money to KM's. That's something I want to find out the difference in KM's per Tank between 87 Octane and 89 Octane vs COST! I will keep you all posted on that one..
please do as the pump is killing me at 17.4 mpg with reg.I hope my math is wrong.

gas guzzler

Has anyone else other than me been getting crappy MPG. I'm really starting to think that this car is a gas guzzler.
me thinks everyones lying or getting different MPG out of there CT as I'm just figuring out my MPG on my CT and this last week I got 15.6 MPG with simple commutes to work and one 30 mile hwy trip.I'm in shock as it was $52 to fill it up for a simple weeks worth of driving and I'm already getting the gears from GF who wanting the gas sipping Venza that has twice the MPG rating as were getting,15.6 mpg combined arg. I hope the aftermarket performance chip isn't snake oil and can get 4-7 mpg more outta this guzzler else I'm in trouble.
