For those who store their CT outdoors in unfriendly environments like under large trees and those, like me, who do so from time to time, there is a solution to all of the crud, mud and debris that accumulates in the drain channels around the liftgate.

I purchased some "Z" shaped adhesive weather stripping and mounted it on the underside along the perimeter of the liftgate. So far it has performed well under the spring droppings in my driveway and even the power spray at the car wash (I never use brush car washes.).

It's almost invisible when the liftgate is closed which makes a messy job of installing like mine look good.

I may have to look into doing this. I found a good amount of water in my liner tray. I've seen other posts on Facebook where people are finding rust in their wheel wells.
