question on the fluid changes - have you had the big fluid changes (60k /100k) yet? i have gotten quoted some big numbers just wanted to see if you had same experience since you brought up you had done... ...thanks for info
No worries :)

I only had the drive-line fluids changed: transmission, t-case, and rear differential unit. Had that done at 50K, if I remember correctly, it was about $140-$150 for all 3 (this was a while ago). Wont do it again untill 100K. I find the Crosstour schedule for those 3 fluids to be overly paranoid (bordering on ridiculous). Honda DW1 and DP2 fluids simply dont get spent that quickly. The t-case uses GL5, which lasts a damn long time.

Thank you great info on tires (i am shopping). I realize now how much i like the 2012 body style - i had before my 2014. it looks way bigger or something for fun i am going to look up the cubic feet. question on the fluid changes - have you had the big fluid changes (60k /100k) yet? i have gotten quoted some big numbers just wanted to see if you had same experience since you brought up you had done. my 2014 has low miles and hasnt had done yet but needs due to age not miles budgeting now. thanks for info
The Exact fluids and prices need to be mentioned so ican tell you what is and isnt fair.

do not wait over 50k to do it, get it done on time. its literally $10 in fluid for transfer and diff, and like $50 for the transmission.

Not really a big deal. I had the mechanic collect some for Blackstone to test, at my mileage the DW1 was well within spec still, and no unusual levels of anything, and they suggested trying another 10K. I'm good with 50K :) Blackstone will also test DP2, I havent tested that myself, but the UOA's I've seen dont indicate the stuff gets spent around the suggested mileage intervals. Any of of the ##w-90 synthetic hypoids are good for 60-90K in most differentials and t-cases that use it, the stuff is very resilient.

If you want to see how your vehicle behaves, just have the fluids tested. Or whatever lets ya sleep easier ;)

wow - ok the dealer wanted to charge me something like 800 for 4 (brake, trans, diff, transfer) - getting quotes. previous owner i guess had done at 30k - car is at 35k miles but is now 9 years old and has only had the fluids done once and they are showing dirty (again by honda dealer). curious your thoughts on my situation. the prev owner seemed to not drive much and there has been multiple years betw her 30k and now so its not the miles creating the need but the time - is this bogus thought process ?

Hey Ang - let me see if i can get the precise info here
  • brake fluid service (due every 3 years, fluid is dirty):$174.80
  • rear differential fluid service (part of the all wheel drive system, due every 30k miles. fluid is dirty):
$203.20
- transfer case fluid (part of the all wheel drive system. due every 30k miles):
$207.58
- transmission fluid service (due every 30k miles):
$218.50

Some peeps on here are saying total cost should be what one of these charges is and its a huge difference. the mechanics say that there are hourly fees in addition to the cost of just the fluids

Thats in the right ballpark for that kind of service.

rear differential fluid service (part of the all wheel drive system, due every 30k miles. fluid is dirty): $203.20
transfer case fluid (part of the all wheel drive system. due every 30k miles): $207.58
transmission fluid service (due every 30k miles): $218.50
Each of those is absolutely outrageous. There is no significant amount of labor involved in any of those, and the only 'expensive' fluid is the DW1. Last time, I was in and out in 45 mins.

The local dealers in my area used to run transmission fluid change special periodically for $89.95. These days $99.95 is common. Often $119.95, and thats with fluid.

k - i am seeing two comments from you - 1 saying they are in line price wise and 1 saying they are outrageous?

so the prices are outrageous? i think a local non honda dealer can do for about 600. is that more sane or should this entire thing be at the 200 level for all ? just hearing huge range from people on costs

Each of those last 3 is absolutely outrageous, i.e. way overpriced. There is no significant amount of labor involved in any of those, and the only 'expensive' fluid is the DW1. Last time, I was in and out in 45 mins.

Make more sense?
