Hair trigger on Dash Auto-dim

Does anyone notice the hair trigger on the sensor that turns headlights on & dims dash lights automatically? Mine triggers even when going under an underpass or even from the shade of passing a tree on a sunny day. Only takes about 2 seconds for the dash lights to dim, but considerably longer for them to come back on. This cycling is annoying. Had a Lexus w/autodim feature & it worked like a champ.

Anyone?

Yes, I have the same issue when going under a Bridge or overpass. They also take a long time in the morning to go off once the sun is up.
This is probably programable thru the Body Control Module. If so it would be easily done by the dealer. I know it is on my Lex.

Check with the dealer.

Yea I noticed that they can turn on in broad daylight if the sun is behind you. I just control them manually I figure its better for the HIDs if they're not constantly flickering on and off.

It's funny cause in my old forum the complaint on the accord sedans was that they didn't turn on fast enough or as often when set to AUTO lol...
Yep. I just use the old-school manual switch to control the lights as the Crosstour goes all schizo in auto. The Mercedes did auto headlights (and rain sensing wipers) brilliantly. The Crosstour... not so much.

I was just having this conversation with a buddy the other day. It's hard to believe, but in two years I touched the headlight and windshield wiper switches only twice: once when I bought the car to turn them on, and once when I turned them off to trade the car in on the Crosstour.
I never use the auto feature. I just turn the lights off and on as I need them. Plus, I keep the instrument lights on the brightest setting all the time. Don't tell Chefmark, but I am still unhappy with my black and very dark interior. (color was the wife's choice)

He's watching I'm sure. Now that's 2 of us he's after: you for whining and me for videos....:D

CM where are you...................

For what it's worth, I like turning everything off when I park including h/lights, A/C, fan, radio, everything.
I like it when the idle comes down to normal (no load) which won't happen with any loads on it.
Probably not important these days of high tech etc, but it is one of my quirks.
I figure at my age I'm entitled.;)
