Is there a place I can put up an ad to sell a cargo tray? I got a cargo tray for x'mas but already had one. Thanks.

25 post minimum, and we'll be checking to make sure people don't abuse it by post whoring just to get a post count.

We're doing this to try to protect our members from scamers and things like that.

We do. But having a spammer hit the board is not the same as having a scammer take a member's money via a fraudulent for sale post. The mods and admin here are experienced enough with other forums to have seen first hand what happens when for sale forums are opened with too little restriction.

Well, based on my post count I will be ready to shop in a year. Why not just ban spammers??

Well at least you'll only have to wait a few more days. Unless you mean in a years time......

I am a mod over at the EOC and CRVOC. We had a rash of hit and runs about a years ago. New members were signing up just to post a few items for sale and leave never to be seen again. They were basically using the forums just as you would craigslist or fleabay.

As for spammers they tend to hit already existing threads in other sections of the forums. The trading post type forums are the last place they go.

just my $0.02 from somebody who has bought and sold about $35,000 in ls1 parts in the past 8 years online.

Everybody should be able to see the for sale forum, and just limit the new posting requirements to force a certain post count. Or at least have something on the main forum saying it is there and the requirements to see it. There are certain forums I will not spend time on due to no for sale sections, or crazy rules like the GTO forum that require a picture with members name and date for all for sale posts even local pickup parts.

I also would consider a post count or time requirement, (not both) as there are some forums that I want to sell some parts on that I have 12 posts due to reading the technical discussion, but not having anything to add. i've been a member of the forum for 6 years and have 12 posts, but I cannot sell anything due to the low post count.

Thanks,

Ryan

Fortunately we are still small enough to be able to fairly easily adapt to the members' request, but of course we try to protect the members as a whole, from experienced forum lurkers, to the first time forum member, who tend to be easy targets for scammers. I'm sure anyone who has dealt with any performance automotive oriented forum can find dozens of examples of both long term and noob members getting robbed by scammers that are very good. We also lack a large, slightly thrown-off group of members who can stalk these people down like some sites, so as admins we have to keep some restrictions a little tighter than other places.

Slow, I feel your pain, I had to ***** up my post count a little bit on SVT Performance, just to get into the classified section, I have more buyer/seller feedback points than post now lol

I'm in the same boat...

I got one of these that I don't want also. Did not think to sell it becasue i figured it's unshipable (cost to much due to size). I'd welcome any ideas you've got on how to ship this thing?

Thanks

I think the post limit is a good thing on the classifieds, i have been a member of other forums that they had to institute these kind of rules, due to people coming in and just using the classifieds with sometimes bogus adds. personally i think it makes for a little nicer forum not that i visit the classifieds too often (the truck takes up too much fundalation)
