Bought honda CT in January, great car. One little issue.
I was just wondering if anyone else is having any problem with their driver side door handle sticking. It does not prevent me from opening the door, but does have enough resistance from time to time.
Went to the dealer who told me that they would order a new door handle. Went in today to get it replaced. Service call me and told me they fixed the problem and I was good to go. Well, I get down there, test out the door and wouldn't you know... nothing changed, door handle still sticks.
I talked to the service manager, he said the next thing they wanted to do is order a new latch for the door. He was unable to do that because honda was not releasing any door latches at this time. He wasn't sure why himself but thought honda might already now about this possible problem and is in the process of trying to fix it, until then not much I can do at this point except sit and wait. ???.
Please anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, I have the same issue, it's not all the time just once in a while i will notice it sticking. I was going to take to the dealer when I got my next oil change. Maybe the reason they can not get the replacement door handel is Honda does know about the issue ans is trying to find a fix first. . I like to know if anyone else is getting the same issue

My dealer fixed mine in a few minutes

Thats great that they were able to fix that issue. Can you be more specific and tell me what was the cause of the problem and how they were able to fix it? Cause if its was that easy then I could go back and suggest they look into what they did for you.

I honestly have no clue, I think it's just a lubrication issue, which would suck because it could be a recurring issue. They had it in the back taking pictures of the hatch where the spoiler was rubbing, and now the handle pulls really smooth. We'll be going in for our fisrt scheduled maintenance here pretty soon, so I'll have to ask exactly what they did.

I just brought my car in today for that EXACT same issue. My driver's side door latch sticks periodically - from both the inside and the outside. Every time it happens, I'm still able to open the door, it just takes a bit more effort, but sometimes, I fear that something will break if I force it.

I waited at the dealer today for 2 hours while they "looked into it". Of course, they could not replicate the issue (great), so they could not fix it. They did end up doing some "scan" and diagnostics (on a door??) and found all the electronics (locks, I guess) in good working order.

In the end, the Service Advisor "thought" it might be either the actuator or a "lock rod" that did not extend far enough, but because he did not know, he could not order a new one. The thought behind that was he would need to send the old one back to Honda, and if it was not broken, Honda would think that they were turning in fraudulent warranty claims. In my mind, that's complete bullsh!t, but what can you do?

So, my only recourse is to wait until this is a constant issue and then I can bring it back and hopefully they can see it happening for themselves, then they'll fix it.

pwjf081870,

I too feel like something will break, but almost wish it would so then they would know that there "is" a problem here. Thanks for everyones feedback. Please keep the info coming in, hopefully one of us will stumble in with a solution, maybe??.

That sound a bit much...I think it just need some greese and it should be good to go. Sounds like the dealers are trying to make a buck or two

Yeah, I agree. Has anyone actually just tried to lubricate the latch? I am going to check on mine to see if any lubrication was added from the factory. By the way everyone is describing this issue, it would seem to be either a door fitment issue or the latch itself.

Ours as well does this, and so far only 2 doors, the drivers door and the driver side rear door. It almost feels as if the doors are warped because when you release the lever they seem to "Spring" open. I have not taken it to the dealership as of yet, am waiting to for the oil change so they can take a look at it.

I started experiencing this three days ago. My car is a month old. I thought I might just be pulling the handle wrong or something. I'll have my dealer look at it when I take it in for the first oil change.

Nothing yet, one week new. I'll keep an eye on it. Mine has a July build date. I'm curious if Honda has corrected these things, i.e., vibrating hatch cover paint issue, and the handles. When the Ridgeline was new there were various nuances as with any new vehicle. I bought one about 10 months into production and never experienced any of the problems reported, yet, those with earlier builds did nhot get repairs as yet.

Interesting if true, but interesting anyway.

Update. My SA called today to have me bring the car in on Monday. Honda finally released the latches to the door! Not sure if this is the solution, but at least they are now working with me to resolve this issue. I will keep you posted on what happens.

Cool,
See if there is a TSB on the door handle. If there is then if you can get the TSB number and post it for all of us....Thanx
I will also do a search on Savecar.gov web site to see if Honda has released anything.

I bought mine back in January as well and didnt seem to have a problem until it got hot, the hotter it is the worse the problem seems..my dealer tried to fix mine as well and no luck and now I am waiting as well.
You know, now that you say this, I live here in AZ and I really didn't have a problem until it started getting hot. Hmmm. Maybe just coincidence... who knows. I just hope this latch thing is the fix.
