No I didn't have a flat tire to change, but I was curious to know how the spare tire system on the CT would work should it ever be required. As we all know a flat tire change is not a pleasant task no matter the weather condintions.

I followed the procedure as per the OM pages 372-379 and I would give the CT system a thumbs up in comparison to the cable system that I have encountered in the past where you have to crawl under the vehicle.

I would suggest you carry a mat of some sort so you can lay down behind the back bumper and a pair of mechanics gloves.

Your's didn't come with that plastic sheeting by all the tools? I've got a little "kit" I made for my wife in the basket thing. I didn't think to put some gloves in there though, I have a set in my Mustang and my F250 just for that.

I put a quality set of jumper cables, a 12v compressor, a can of fix-a-flat, and a pocket sized poncho in the basket in the back. Of all things, I've found that spending the extra money on some good heavy jumper cables is the best thing you can do. I recommend picking up a set at a truck supply store.

The beauty of owning a new Crosstour is that for at least 3 years, you don't have to worry about doing any tire changes. That is what Roadside Assistance is for!
If it isn't an emergency, then wait for them....if it is, you don't worry about getting your hands and clothes dirty.
That is the way in the Great White North anyway!

Ya great service (roadside assistance) when you are within the confined area that provides service. Could be a long wait and expensive when your caught some where between Timbuktu & Ecum Secum.
