CT - IT's First Long Trip

My Wife and I took our first long trip with the CT this week. We drove about 720 miles round trip to my In-laws. This does not include driving around town once we got there. I will say I was more than comfortable the entire trip not just with the seating but the climate and sound systems. The Back up camera was a big help since my In-laws live on a small farm with a couple of barn cats that like to hide around where you park.
We did use the SatNav; commonly know as Ms. Honda. Ms. Honda did her job, but like most Sat Nav System it has its issues but none that sent me down some dirt road or over a cliff.
Gas Mileage was about 26.5 MPG overall a little disappointing. We did have a 15 MPH head wind coming home plus doing about 80 did not help, that averaged 24. 6, going up we got about 28. 4 MPG.
We ended up bring back more than we went with and had no problems with space. I did drop the back seats to accommodate for more stuff. I will say the privacy divider sucks when you have big items.
I received a couple of calls from work and got to use the Blue Tooth, which is pretty cool.
As for the power of the CT it was good not great just good. I hand no issues passing folks on a 2 lane highways. I did get a few people ask me what kind of car is that. I would reply a Honda and the standard reply would be REEEELAY, WOW that a nice looking car.
In my humble opinion the CT is really a good car with a few very fixable flaws as long as Honda reads what is posted on the forums.

What do you mean? Are you talking about the fabric cover over the trunk? If so, are you aware that you can remove it (both panels come out) for larger items?

Yes, I am very aware of that but, it is still a pain inthe neck
Ah. Got it.
Just got back from my first long trip. We've had the car for only 6 weeks and I put about 900 miles roundtrip on this recent excursion.(Had about 900 miles around town on the car before I left.) Driving 8 hours there, I arrived at my destination and got out of the car at a grocery store. I could smell hot burning wires, but attributed it to the store as they were remodeling and I thought maybe there had been a fire. Then on returning home, another 8 hours of highway driving, I got out of the car and smelled the same thing. It seemed to be coming from the back of the car, because I lifted the front hood and everything smelled A-OK. I haven't called the dealer yet, but anybody have an opinion? Mileage was a steady 27mph and I saw 3 others on the road. Yeah.

Sounds like you had a great trip, Chef ...
.

Mileage seems reasonable to me since it's probably getting cooler out. My mileage has dropped off about 10% due to weather conditions. Seems really affected by cold temps.
Much above the speed limit and h/wind will kill it also as you know.

If I'm planing on carrying anything, I usually remove the privacy panels and leave them at home, but should be stowable if unexpected toting is encountered.

Bluetooth is a blessing isn't it....

Thanks for the synopsis on the trip. Sounds like the CT performed just like a Honda....:)

C.
