On either side of the hatchback window is a blank plug where the tailgate liner's hooks will be screwed in...does anyone know how those blank plugs are removed? A screwdriver blade can get underneath the plug, but before I break something...please instruct!

There's nothing in the provided instructions, of course.

Answering my own question

Those blank plugs are removed with a flat blade screwdriver by gently prying from underneath. If the inner circular plate lifts first, take advantage of that and wiggle it free, then continue with prying the remainder of the plug upward being careful to not gouge the tailgate's interior trim. Remove the screws and washers you've uncovered then install the hooks per instructions. Voila!

I just tried it, and it works! I took out the Philip head screw, and attach the hooks, screw the hooks back in and it's works. The privacy shade looks really good in the rear of my Crosstour.
