I read somewhere that you can buy the rear view camera without buying the nav system. I am considering a 2wd exl and would like some feedback. I drove the crosstour today and really like it!

I know Kenwood and Alpine make aftermarket cameras....
Maybe check with your local Audio/Video retailer.

Do you mean order it with it from the factory or add it on after purchase?

I believe it is a factory option. You don't have to have the nav unit in place to get the rearview camera.

Having bought my L with Nav and camera, I shoulda skipped the nav and just got the back up beepers, since I already own a highline Garmin GPS. Frankly, I don't find the camera that much help!! I'm lookin' at the screen when I should be lookin' out the back sides for oncomming knuckleheads speeding thru the parking lots.

I find the camera great for backing into tight spots....also the look on people's faces when I'm backing out of a spot and they think I'm not even looking and going to hit someone behind me is priceless!

My top two reasons I love the camera as well, especially the second one.

Looks like a long wait to be standard by 2012. NHTSA proposed mandatory Backup Camera. A gradual phase in like they did with TPMS.

when I am in the dealership (before the deal was made), I ask them to throw in the backup camera as gift. However, based on what they told me, the backup camera is only available on the Nav model. End up, I get the backup sensor as gift (installed and honda OEM one). So far, I love it and feel more safe when I back up.

I like the 170 degree wide angle lens. I was parked in a spot next to a big SUV, and couldn't see the cars coming from the other side. I looked at the camera, and you can see the cars coming.
