Buyer's regret - 2012 Crosstour

I purchased a 2012 Honda Crosstour from my local dealership for my daughter. The dealership said the previous owner drove the car with known issues so they put a new engine in it. I"m thinking - Great! Brand new engine in a Honda! This car will last my daughter thru college. I didn't ask what the problem was or research the car history (my bad, I know). Fast forward 14 months and I'm deeply regretting it. Fouled spark plugs and high oil consumption. The dealer says the warranty was only 12 months/12,000 miles. The first issue was at 13,100 miles, the second at 1600 miles. Four quarts of oil and a spark plug later, it's fine - for now. So my debate is whether to drive this car into the ground (replacing spark plugs and oil frequently, not ideal for a 16 yr old girl) - have it repaired - or trade it off. Anyone know how much it costs to repair? Is it even possible?

Sorry for your troubles- guessing like you that it wasn’t a brand new engine. If the body is in good condition and no rust a new engine from a reputable manufacturer or rebuilt may be the way to go. Sounds like your engine may be to far gone if the cylinders are scored. I have a 2012 also with 270k that uses about 1QT to 1.5 every 9K miles. Good luck

The dealership put the new engine in, not the previous owner. I've contacted the dealership and the Honda Corp. Neither are responsive. Go figure...

You need to install a VCM Tuner II. This will significantly reduce oil consumption and heal the engine, and stop the fouled spark plugs. It also protects the cats.
