Love the Crosstour. I do notice, however, if I go through a pothole or a speed bump, even at slow speed, I get a loud, metallic-sounding rattle in the rear of the car. I thought it might be the storage basket, or the tire changing tools, but I tightened all that and still get the rattle. It sounds as though it's coming from inside the hatchback. Anyone else experience this?

maybe it's the spare tire not tightened up enough?....might have something to do with the sun visor things over the cargo space?....are the back seats secured in the upright position?....
just some suggestions to check...

Rattles and Creaks

My Crosstour has an annoying rattle in the passengers side door and the shift lever housing creaks and rattles something feirce. As far as rattles in the rear area, check the teathers and metal pulls for the under storage. My C rosstour only has 1500 miles and I'm very carefull not drive it hard on rough roads. The creaks and rattles in the cabin are not typical for Honda. This is #5 Honda and have never had this problem.

I have had multiple noises in my new Crosstour. The radio and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel were creaking, the dealership replaced them but the cruise control buttons still creak, just not as badly. Had a bad vibration in the front of the car, after numerous attempts to fix the problem they finally had to swap out the wheels and tires for a new set. My last issue is a rattle in the driver side B pillar. The seatbelt adjustment parts behind the B pillar cover were replaced and that did not fix it with the final diagnosis being that the rattle is coming from inside the B pillar itself. The dealership has called the Honda Tech Line and we are waiting to hear what Honda thinks a solution might be. Worst case scenario, the dealership has said it might have to go to a body shop to cut the B pillar and see what is causing the rattle. At this point I said absolutely not!! With 3500 miles on my Crosstour (or any miles for that matter) no one will be cutting anything on my car and Honda will have to figure out a different solution. This is my fifth new Honda and have never had problems like this. In fact, my wife's new CR-V has no odd noises what so ever and we have had no problems from it at all.
Sorry for the long post, but I've been so frustrated and needed to get it off my chest. :)

We've started to hear the rattle in the back when we hit bumps too, I'm gonna look back there today, and if it doesn't stop, then we're making an appointment at the dealer.

Noise now corrected

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally determined that the noise coming from the rear of my CT was related to the rearview camera and its wiring and mounting. Once the service techs disassembled the rear hatch, they found that there were loose metal parts and wiring that were colliding with other parts when there was sudden motion. Everything was tightened, and now it rides quietly, regardless of the terrain.

that's ok it's just a part of human to get mad. so what happened in your case is very unusual. i can't see how and where really the problem was. maybe next time before ordering a part try to let an auto mechanic to check your car spare parts and let the mechanic to decide what size will be going to need.

For what it is worth, just before I took delivery of mine the Service manager told me that he heard a rattle in that area, he said it was the side curtain air bag. No rattle since delivery. By the way he found the rattle, not me, while he was test driving on another issue.

WHAT license plate surround? My 2010 EX-L 4WD never came with any "surround"? Did everybody else get a license plate surround? Did I miss something?
Probably the license plate surround referred here is the one that most dealerships are putting advertising their name. I got one on my CT but has never caused any rattle.

my rattle whcih i and they origiinally thought was in the door pillar/seatbelt bracket turned out to be in the door itself-- in the lock mechanism-- befor they cut make sure it is not in the door lock itself

good luck
