I have a 2012 Crosstour and the A/C seems to work completely fine.

One of the suggested line items from a repair shop is "$194.00 – Perform AC system servicing."

I assume this is some sort of refrigerant topping off - but I'm not sure what it is, or why it would be needed.

Anyone have insight on this recommendation?

Technically, a shop is not allow to "Top Off" any longer. They must find and repair the leak before adding refrigerant. I would suggest that you find yourself another shop. The A/C is a closed system and does not need a tune up or yearly service. For the most part, if the A/C is blowing cold; leave it alone.

It may be cleaning the condenser. You could ask and chuckle when they don't want to tell you why they want $150 to hold their hand in front of a duct.

Thanks for the replies, I'll ask them for more details if my air conditioner ever stops blowing cold.
