New to the forum, preparing to purchase or order a crosstour in the next couple of days. I am stuck between the 2wd or 4wd, and the only thing that is holding me up is the mileage difference. I have read the mileage threads on this site and really cannot see any difference in mileage whether it is on the hwy or city. I see 4wd approaching 30mpg on the highway and have not seen any real highway mileage on 2wd, only city.
One thing is for sure, we have driven Subaru outback and legacy, Toyota Venza and Avalon, Hyundai Genesis and this car in our opinion will meet our needs. The car is quiet, good stereo and I have plenty of room in the drivers area, as I am 6'4 and the seats are comfortable and supportive, (Leather). The ride is smooth and the steering is precise, ( Unlike Venza). Anyway responses are appreciated on the mileage.

I have the EX-L 4WD and have yet to get decent mileage.
I have heard lots of claims of 30-35 MPG, but I have yet to get more than 450 Kilometres (280 miles) from a full tank of fuel, which around here is costing me $60 (at 99 cents/litre).

Either I am driving wrong or using the wrong type of gasoline........suggestions anyone??

Well we went ahead and went with the 4wd, other than (britye) everyone seems to go with 4wd being that mileage is probably the same. (approx).. We went with a 4wd with Nav.,Polish Metal.. they are locating the vehicle for us and we should have it Monday or Tuesday. We drove a 4wd when we were there Friday and really could tell no difference in handling between the 2 and 4. Hopefully the same is true with the fuel efficiency. We are hoping it gets better than a subaru with the 3.6 liter v-6. Anyway will keep you posted.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the fuel mileage I get,(it is a lot better than my 07 Ridgeline) I'm just saying that is what my car uses for fuel. It seems a long way from 35 MPG which means either I am calculating wrong or others are...
My best mileage to date has been 8.22 kilometers/liter which is 19.3346388 miles/gallon(US).

Is this mostly city driving? I hope so, I have a Dodge Ram 4*4 quad cab with a Hemi and can get 20-21mpg on the highway (68-70mph) 75-80mph drops to 18mpg

So far with 3568 total Kilometres driven I have used 289.14 litres of gas (87 Octane) and am averaging 7.04 k's per litre or 19.89 MPG (CDN.) or 26.65 MPG (US) combined city/highway (40%/60%).

Not so bad now that I got a few miles on and the weather has warmed up a bit. I am fairly pleased but hoping it gets better.

How is everyone else doing with mileage?

Britye that is good mileage seeing that it is 40/60 driving, we have not had ours long enough to see what the overall mileage is going to be, wife drives it daily to work +/-5 miles each way, so far around 22 mpg. On the highway I am hoping for around 30mpg. In June have a trip planned to St. Augustine Fla. 500 miles each way so we should get a good idea on our fuel economy.
